OFFICIAL RULES: INSTITUTE SCHOLARSHIP CONTEST RULES

Q: When is the last day to submit a video?
A:  March 1st, 2013

Q: How old do I have to be to enter this contest?
A: You have to be at least 16 years old on the date you enter the contest.

Q: How long does my video have to be?
A: Video must be maximum 2 minutes long.

Q: What if I live in Québec?
A: Sorry, Québec residents are specifically excluded from participating in this contest.

Q: On the entry form there is a spot to provide a link to my facebook page and my twitter handle. Do I have to provide this information?
A: One spot in the Final Hair Showdown is people’s choice and will be determined by the number of likes on your video. The more you share the better chance you will have of winning that spot. Including your Twitter and Facebook information is not mandatory.

Q: On your website it says you have schools in Montréal and Edmonton. Why are these schools not on the list of schools to choose from on the entry form.
A: Our schools in Edmonton and Montréal only offer the Academy Salon Program. The scholarships we are awarding are for the Institute Hairstyling Program only.

Q: Can I enter the contest with friends if we are applying to different cities?
A: Although teamwork is fun we ask that each entrant have their own unique video so they can showcase their individual passions and skills.

Q: I’ve attended hair school already. Can I still apply?
A: Entrants may not have prior professional training as a hairstylist or be a registered apprentice. If you already have professional hairdressing training we suggest that you look into our Academy Salon Program. This program offers advanced training for stylists who wish to refine their skills.

Q: When is the Final Hair Showdown?
A: Finalists will compete in a hair show to be held at each Aveda Institute location during the month of May, 2013. All finalists must be able to compete at the Final Hair Showdown in order to be eligible for the grand prize. Exact Final Hair Showdown dates will be announced soon so be sure to check out our Facebook, Twitter and www.avedainstitute.ca.

Q: What is included in the full scholarship prize?
A:  The prizes include tuition costs only and do not include books, tools and taxes. These costs shall all be the responsibility of the winners.

Q: How many entries can I submit? 
A: Only one entry per person. Decide which hair school location you really want to attend and submit your one entry to that one school.

Q I have already applied to one of Aveda Institute Canada's hair schools. Can I still enter this contest?
A:  As long as you have not started classes or have taken any classes have any professional training at a school that offers hairdressing education, you may enter this contest (and you are over 16 years old and are not a resident of Québec).

Q I have already enrolled in one of the Aveda Institute Canada’s hair schools but I don’t start class until after the contest is over. If I make it to the Final Hair Showdown and win will I get reimbursed?
A: Yes, funds you have paid towards your hairstyling program tuition will be refunded if you win first place at the Final Hair Showdown.

Q: What if I don’t live in British Columbia? Can I still apply to the Vancouver hair school?
A: You can live in any province or territory (except Québec) and apply to any of our schools. However, Aveda Institute Canada will not cover costs associated with travel and other miscellaneous costs if you are chosen to compete in the Final Hair Showdown.
